About us

Run by students. Answerable to parents.

Teach for a Cause is a student-led volunteer program in North Carolina. High school musicians teach middle schoolers one-on-one, for free, with a parent in charge from the first click.

How it’s run

Six rules we hold ourselves to.

Not a mission statement. Each of these is built into the site or written into our policies, so you can check it.

No money, in any direction

Lessons are free. Nobody pays us, we pay nobody, and tutors can’t accept money or gifts.

A parent says yes first

Students can’t make accounts. A parent creates one from an email we verify and signs consent before anything unlocks.

Parents can read everything

Every message between a tutor and a student is readable from the parent’s account. Contact details are blocked.

We collect as little as we can

A student’s first name, never a last name or photo. Nothing is sold or used for ads. Privacy policy

Independent

We’re not affiliated with or endorsed by any school or school district.

Concerns go to a person
